We’ve noticed a trend when discussing Galvalume metal roofing vs a painted panel. In a recent poll conducted with both prospective customers and past customers, we noted that some polled assume that our Galvalume product is more energy efficient.
While Galvalume may be more reflective, it has a lower reflectance. It’s worth defining that total solar reflectance or TSR, is the percentage of the amount of heat reflected by the metal roofing panel.
So while it may be assumed a Galvalume metal panel is the right choice for your roof, if one of your main concerns is energy efficiency, choosing a painted metal roof may be a better selection for your needs.
Refer to our color chart below and notice that each item has a TSR% associated with it. The higher the TSR% listed, the more heat will be reflected by the panel.
